Unemployment Claims Unexpectedly Plunge


Preliminary claims for unemployment advantages plunged by rather more than anticipated final week, largely reversing the autumn climb that had satisfied many who the labor market was softening.

Preliminary claims fell to 209,000 for the week ended November 18, the bottom degree since mid-October. The prior week’s claims had been revised as much as 233,000 from 231,000.
