Consultant Bennie Thompson (D-MS), former chairman of the now-defunct January 6 Choose Committee, stated Friday on CNN’s “The Lead” that former President Donald Trump “should endure the implications” of his actions surrounding the 2020 election.
At a CNN city corridor, when requested about January 6, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) stated, “That was not a superb day for the nation. The media has taken that. The left has taken that and actually tried to politicize it.”
Anchor Jake Tapper stated, “They’ve made this argument that it was not patriotic. This was overblown by Democrats and the media. you might be on the Capitol on January 6. What do you assume?”
Thompson stated, “We had individuals defending the Capitol who had been damage, some misplaced their lives. We had employees, individuals, myself included, that had been held captive for a number of hours, not in a position to depart. So from somebody to try to trivialize it’s a disgrace. We’re a greater nation than what occurred on January 6. For somebody to advertise that form of train, and attempt to defend it, is a tragic day.”
He added, “These of us take a solemn oath of workplace to say that they need this nation to be the most effective that it may be and they’ll shield and protect it however then they give you this type of language, they don’t deserve to carry public workplace. They don’t deserve the correct to advertise patriotism on this nation. I’m satisfied that ultimately the individuals will communicate. These a number of hundred individuals who have already gone to jail for these actions, these a number of hundred within the pipeline to go to jail, they’re incorrect.
