President Draupadi Murmu has nominated creator and philanthropist Sudha Murty to the Rajya Sabha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Friday.
Twelve members are nominated to the Higher Home of the Parliament by the President for his or her contributions to arts, literature, sciences and social companies.
Modi, on the social media platform X, stated Murty’s contributions to a number of fields, together with social work, philanthropy and training, have been inspiring.
“Her presence within the Rajya Sabha is a robust testomony to our ‘Nari Shakti’ [women power], exemplifying the power and potential of girls in shaping our nation’s future,” the prime minister added.

Murty was awarded the Padma Shri in 2006 and the Padma Bhushan in 2023. She is married to Infosys co-founder Narayana Murty.
