SIU opens probe after police officer fired photographs at a Brantford gasoline station


The province’s police watchdog is investigating a taking pictures at a Brantford, Ont. gasoline station the place an officer fired off rounds early Friday morning.

The Particular Investigations Unit (SIU) says the Brantford police officer discharged his firearm “a number of occasions” round 3:30 a.m whereas testing a “white van of curiosity” on the Petro Canada gasoline station on Fairview Drive and West Road.

“Shortly after, a 34-year-old man was arrested,” SIU spokesperson Monica Hudon stated in a press release. “The person was not struck or injured because of the firearm discharge. He was taken to hospital.”

Hudon says 5 investigators in whole, together with two forensic investigators, have been assigned to the case.
