Scroll’s Nolina Minj received a 2023 South Asia Laadli Media Award on Tuesday.
Minj received the award within the English language net article class.
The Laadli Media Awards was instituted in 2007 by Inhabitants First, a nonprofit supported by the United Nations Inhabitants Fund. The South Asia Laadli Media and Promoting Awards for Gender Sensitivity acknowledge and honour the position of the media in gender sensitivity.
Aside from India, the third version of the South Asia Laadli Media Awards coated Afghanistan, Bangladesh, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
Minj received the award for her story on the horrors of queer conversion remedy in India. The story was a part of Scroll’s Widespread Floor undertaking.
Minj reported on how individuals from the queer neighborhood are being subjected to varied “therapies” akin to weird conversion rituals and hypnosis, that are geared toward altering their gender id or sexual orientation.
Minj had received the 2023 Laadli Media Award within the English language western area class for a similar story in October.
