Photographs: Bundled up because the 2024 Rose Parade kicks off


The one hundred and thirty fifth Rose Parade kicked off Monday because the world ushers within the begin of 2024.

With its petal-packed floats, marching bands and high-stepping horses, the parade travels 5½ miles alongside the streets of Pasadena.

The theme this 12 months is “Celebrating a World of Music: The Common Language,” a message of hope and concord in a time of warfare, labor strikes, and partisan political strife as a contentious American election 12 months begins.

“In a world of various cultures, beliefs, hopes, and goals, one language unites us all — music,” Alex Aghajanian, president of the Event of Roses, mentioned in a press release. “The sound, texture, rhythm, type, concord, and expression meld collectively to maneuver, soothe, excite and delight the world.”
