Officers say hearth at switch station in Cranbrook, B.C. was ‘deliberately’ set


Officers in Cranbrook, B.C., say the town’s switch station for rubbish and recycling was “deliberately” set ablaze by somebody who tried to interrupt into the ability in a single day.

An announcement from the Regional District of East Kootenay says the station has reopened after the early morning hearth was snuffed out by emergency crews.

The town’s stable waste superintendent Jim Penson says a bolstered metal door thwarted the tried break-in, however the would-be burglar seems to have damaged a window and thrown “some sort of flammable” into the constructing.

Penson says the hearth was handled by emergency crews earlier than it might unfold, including that it didn’t have an effect on the switch station constructing.

He says Cranbrook RCMP is now investigating the incident.

The regional district’s assertion says the switch station has been reopened, however there could also be a looming “smoky odour” due to the hearth.
