Israel says soldier executed, international hostages held at Gaza’s Al-Shifa hospital

CCTV video aired by Hagari appeared to indicate a gaggle of males frog-marching a person right into a hospital, to the shock of medical workers. A second clip confirmed an injured man on a gurney. One other man close by, in civilian garments, had an assault rifle.

Hamas didn’t instantly touch upon Hagari’s statements. The Palestinian Islamist group, which runs Gaza, has beforehand mentioned it took some hostages to hospitals for remedy.

Individually on Sunday, the Israeli navy revealed video of what it described as a tunnel, working 55 metres in size and dug by Palestinians 10 metres beneath the Shifa compound.

Whereas acknowledging that it has a community of a whole bunch of kilometres of secret tunnels, bunkers and entry shafts all through the Palestinian enclave, Hamas has denied that these are positioned in civilian infrastructure like hospitals.

The video confirmed a slender passage with arched concrete roofing, ending at what the navy, in a press release, described as a blast-proof door.

The assertion didn’t say what could be past the door. The tunnel had been accessed by means of a shaft found in a shed throughout the Shifa compound that contained munitions, it mentioned. A second video confirmed an out of doors shaft-opening within the compound.

Mounir El Barsh, the Gaza well being ministry director, dismissed the Israeli assertion on the tunnel as a “pure lie”.

“They’ve been on the hospital for eight days … and but they haven’t discovered something,” he advised Al Jazeera tv.
