Is Senegal heading for political turmoil? | TV Exhibits

Protests erupt in Senegal after the president indefinitely postpones elections.

Senegalese President Macky Sall made a shock announcement on Saturday – indefinitely suspending elections scheduled this month.

He cited controversy surrounding the disqualification of some presidential candidates.

The opposition has accused Sall of making an attempt to cling to energy, and protests have taken place within the capital, Dakar.

Senegal is considered by many because the continent’s most secure democracy and a uncommon pillar of stability in West Africa, the place its neighbours have confronted coups and civil wars.

Sall says he’s not going to run for a 3rd time period.

However with no new date for the presidential election, what’s subsequent for Senegal ?
