EU welcomes Polish efforts on rule of legislation – Euractiv


European Union justice commissioner Didier Reynders on Friday (19 January) applauded Poland’s new authorities for efforts to revive the rule of legislation, which he stated could lead on Brussels to unblock frozen EU funds.

The professional-EU authorities led by Donald Tusk — a former European Council president — final month took over from a right-wing administration which had sparred with Brussels over controversial judicial reforms and appointments.

Brussels had blocked Poland’s entry to billions of euros in EU post-pandemic restoration funds due to the standoff.

“I’m more than happy that the Polish authorities are decided to revive the rule of legislation in Poland, to make sure full compliance of their laws not solely with the Polish structure but additionally with the necessities of EU legislation,” Reynders advised reporters in Warsaw.
