British musician Denny Laine has died aged 79, his spouse has introduced.
Laine was a member of The Moody Blues throughout the Nineteen Sixties after which joined Paul and Linda McCartney within the band Wings in 1971.
He sang on the huge Moody Blues hit Go Now and co-wrote the Wings traditional Mull of Kintyre.
Laine’s spouse, Elizabeth Hines, mentioned he “handed away peacefully” following a battle with lung illness.
Quickly after the information was introduced, ex-Beatle McCartney paid tribute to “an important expertise with a high quality sense of humour”.
McCartney wrote on Instagram: “I’m very saddened to listen to that my ex-bandmate, Denny Laine, has died.
“I’ve many fond reminiscences of my time with Denny: from the early days when The Beatles toured with the Moody Blues. Our two bands had plenty of respect for one another and plenty of enjoyable collectively. Denny joined Wings on the outset. He was an excellent vocalist and guitar participant.

“He and I each believed he would overcome his well being setbacks and return to the rehabilitation centre and ultimately dwelling.
“Sadly, his lung illness, Interstitial Lung Illness (ILD), is unpredictable and aggressive; every an infection weakened and broken his lungs. He fought on a regular basis. He was so robust and courageous, by no means complained.
“All he wished was to be dwelling with me and his pet kitty, Charley, enjoying his gypsy guitar.”
