The Czech Pirate Get together has chosen former EU Parliament vice-president and present Quaestor of the European Parliament Marcel Kolaja as its nominee for the put up of European Commissioner through intra-party voting.
Kolaja has been engaged on the one market, digitalisation, web freedom and transparency within the EU Parliament.
“The Czech Republic has repeatedly sought a powerful financial portfolio. One of many key ones, which we might purchase whilst a rustic that doesn’t pay the euro, is the interior market agenda,” Kolaja stated in a press assertion.
“This (inner market) is an space the place we face a number of challenges, from finishing the digital single market to selling the round financial system,” Kolaja says.
In line with the Czech governing coalition, the Pirate Get together (Greens/EFA) and Mayors and Independents (STAN, non-affiliated) have the best to appoint a Czech consultant to the European Fee.
The ultimate choice on the Czech nominee needs to be confirmed by the Czech Authorities.
The present Czech Vice-President of the EU Fee, Věra Jourová, will not search one other mandate.
Among the many potential candidates are Jozef Síkela (STAN), the present Czech Minister of Business and Commerce, and Jiří Šedivý, head of the European Defence Company. One other potential contender is Danuše Nerudová, who expressed curiosity within the place. Nerudová, economist and unsuccessful candidate on this 12 months’s Czech presidential election, is already confirmed as a co-leader of the STAN candidate checklist for the European elections 2024.
