A suspected arsonist has been arrested in reference to a couple of dozen vegetation and particles fires throughout Los Angeles’ Boyle Heights and Chinatown neighborhoods Wednesday morning, authorities mentioned.
Although the fires got here days after a suspected arson blaze engulfed a bit of the ten Freeway in downtown L.A., shutting it down, authorities haven’t made a connection between them.
Between 7 a.m. and eight a.m., metropolis firefighters “responded to and rapidly extinguished roughly 12 deliberately set vegetation and particles fires within the Boyle Heights and Chinatown space,” in keeping with Brian Humphrey, a Los Angeles Hearth Division spokesman. No accidents or structural harm have been reported.
The suspect, who has not been named, was apprehended shortly after 8 a.m. and arrested on suspicion of arson. Witnesses noticed the person driving a bicycle away from every of the blazes as they started to pop up farther west from the Eastside, police mentioned.
