Lokayukta Police on Monday nabbed a Tribal Affairs Division clerk when she was allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 on the premises of the Indore district Justice of the Peace’s workplace, an official stated.

The clerk, recognized as Uma Marskole, demanded the bribe from a constructing proprietor who had rented it out to the Tribal Affairs Division from 2015 to 2023 to run a women’ hostel, stated Deputy Superintendent of Police Praveen Singh Baghel.

“She was nabbed whereas accepting a Rs 50,000 bribe from Vikram Singh Gehlot on the premises of the district Justice of the Peace’s workplace,” he stated.

Baghel stated Marskole and Tribal Affairs Division’s Regional Convenor Vijay Kumar Jaiswal had been demanding bribes from the complainant for clearing his arrears of about Rs 11 lakh.

A case has been registered towards Jaiswal and Marskole beneath the Prevention of Corruption Act, he stated.

“No arrest has been made. Each officers have been served notices beneath related provisions of the Code of Felony Process (CrPC) that they are going to cooperate with the Lokayukta Police within the investigation and be current within the court docket on the time of presentation of the cost sheet,” he added.
