36 employees trapped as portion of under-construction tunnel collapses in Uttarkashi



Not less than 36 employees had been trapped after a portion of an under-construction tunnel on the Brahmakhal-Yamunotri nationwide freeway in Uttarakhand collapsed within the early hours of Sunday.

No casualties have been reported up to now.

The incident occurred at round 4 am between Silkyara and Dandalgaon villages within the state’s Uttarkashi district, PTI reported.

The Nationwide Catastrophe Response Power, the State Catastrophe Response Power, the police and the hearth brigade are conducting rescue operations.

“As per the information [of the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation], 36 employees are trapped inside,” Uttarkashi Superintendent of Police Arpan Yaduvanshi advised reporters. “Rescue operations are below approach on war-footing. We’ll rescue all of them safely.”

Workers of the Nationwide Highways and Infrastructure Improvement Company, the organisation setting up the tunnel, had been additionally current on the spot.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami advised information company ANI that he was involved with officers in regards to the incident.
